This model is based on contemporary developmental research, the heritage of early youth pioneers, and Native American Philosophies of child care. The Circle of Courage is based on the traditional Native American model of child rearing. It represents four essential building blocks for nurturing young people and developing their courage. The model encompassed by four core values: Belonging, Mastery, Independence, and Generosity. These principles equip young people to meet the challenges of life by helping them build up resilience and self-esteem.
Currently Cochrane High School is undergoing some changes. In the 2012/2013 school year the grade 9 program was phased out as Cochrane transforms into Campus Regina Public.
