CAP- Cochrane Advisory Program

All students will be placed in a small advisory group with peers of the same age and grade. The groups meet regularly for 15 minutes each school day except Fridays.  Advisory teachers serve to enhance student learning through engagement. They help students to adjust to the high school environments and they support students’ academic progress as well as personal and social growth. With CAP, students will learn to build community among young people and adults encouraging a healthy sense of belonging, respect and responsibility. The program addresses topics such as School Citizenship, Goal Setting,  Self-assessment,  the Youth Apprenticeship Program, and Career Guidance. The advisory teacher will be the student and the parent contact person at Cochrane. The advisory teacher will supervise student attendance and progress, and will meet with students and parents for Student-Parent-Teacher Conferences in November and March.
