Cochrane Community
High School
Cochrane Community High School is a vocational secondary school which was established by the Regina Board of Education to meet needs of students who would benefit from an alternate high school program. Cochrane offers an instructional program that integrates academic instruction, personal development and vocational preparation. Students have the opportunity to experience approximately 16 different shop areas in Grades 9 and 10 and specialize in two specific areas in Grades 11 and 12. In addition, all Cochrane students participate in an extensive work experience program which provides for a real life experience. Grade 10 students are placed for two weeks in the spring while Grade 11 students have a three-week placement in May and June. Grade 12 students have a three-week placement prior to Christmas and an additional four-week placement in May and June. The goal of work experience is to provide Cochrane students with opportunities for employment at the time of graduation.
