Independent Living

This shop focuses on transferable life skills that are
applicable to the workplace. Students learn:
healthy nutrition, basic cooking skills, personal
self-knowledge, health self-care and interpersonal
skills. Both hand and machine sewing skills are
taught combined with a focus on fashions and
fabrics. A parenting component is included in the
class that teen parents are required to take. Students
from this shop are placed for work study in the
food industry, fashion and fabric industry, senior
centers or as teacher assistants.
